Great food for the price! Burritos, tacos, and flan were all very yummy (no complaints)! Service was very quick as well!

We're on the hunt for perfect carne asada fries. I'm talking long skinny fries not that crinkle cut bs. The toppings must be proportional to the amount of fries and evenly distributed. Salsa has to be spicy too and there must be real cheese not that fake nacho cheese. This hits the mark in what is considered exceptional carne asada fries. I'm coming back to try their Oaxacan food and other dishes :)

Wow! I had Chanos cater my 60th birthday party today. What I great experience. I highly recommend them. I had 75 people coming to my home for my birthday Taco party. I ordered tacos with carne asada, pollo, and carnitas. I added the homemade guacamole, chips, horchata, and Jamaica. Working with Vicente over the phone was a breeze. Great food. Good price, and the service was amazing. No worries at all. These guys showed up on time. Set up their tent, massive stove, tables and coolers. They supplied potato tacos for the vegetarians, rice, beans, salsas, condiments, plates, cups, napkins and forks. They were there in the scorching 97° heat at that big stove and just kept working. Great service for my guests. They even made me burritos with the leftovers. Seriously, if you need to cater an event, call these guys. Great Job. Oh and no clean up for me after!!

I tried this Mexican restaurant for the 1st time, and the food was delicious. Ordered a soft taco plate, which came with 2 soft tacos (I ordered the asada ones), and comes with rice and beans. The tortillas were fresh, the meat soft not too hard and tasty, the rice and beans good. Though this is a small restaurant, but their food tasted authentic homemade style Mexican food.

We used Chano's for their taco catering service this past Saturday for about 50 people. The food was delicious. We had 3 meats and potato tacos. It was served with rice, beans, chips and all the condiments and salsa. Although they forgot the red (spicier salsa) it was not a problem. Their service with 2 workers was superb and friendly. Everyone enjoyed the food and was full. There was enough food leftover for them to make about 10 burritos for us and still had more food we put into containers. I highly recommend using Chano's for your next taco catering event. Pictures included are from an event from the prior week also catered by Chano's. Vicente was responsive and answered all my questions when I inquired about catering. Everything ran perfectly.

It is my first time at this food place. A hole-in-the-wall type of place. I live the variety of dishes. The place has indoor and outdoor seating. I tried the TLAYUDA with pork, beef and chorizo. It's dinner-plate-sized corn tortilla. Super crispy, then topped with refried beans and -sliced meats, local cheeses, and crunchy cabbage/lettuce. I added some of their green salsa and it really complimented all the flavor of this Oaxacan pizza. LOVE IT! The staff are very nice and friendly.

Chanos Drive In may not be the fanciest restaurant in town, but it's definitely one of the tastiest. I'm from the Midwest and discovered Chanos about 15 or 20 years ago when I was in the area on a business trip. Now whenever I'm anywhere in the LA area, I will make a special trip out to San Gabriel especially for these crispy tacos. I've tried to find similar ones all over Chicago and St. Louis for 20 years and have been unsuccessful. This place is amazing, and this is the first time I was able to bring my family as we were out here on vacation. I got my usual - 3 crispy carne asada tacos and they were amazing! The family all got something else - my wife got the Bistec a la Mex which she said was delicious. I can't remember. But my food was damn good!

Chanos is a great local taco shop, but it has NO drive through. Is it a "drive in"? I suppose so, but parking is very limited. There is also some street parking avaliable on Las Tunas and Willard. Chanos is a "hole in the wall" type restaurant. It sits on its own small lot. The Yellow signage is visible from some distance away. It has a small outdoor and open patio. Inside seating and the patio are limited. Inside is pretty hot during summer. Both inside and outside can be very loud. We have had a number of menu items here, but never any of their plates. All of their items we have had a just ok. We just get individual items. Like many comparable retaurants, just get the plates if you want rice and beans with your meal. Many people seem to think their hard taco is really great. We think it is just ok, but definitely worth trying. Their fish taco is good, but Habanaro Grill's is much better. Their soft tacos, enchiladas, and taquitos are all just ok, the taquitos are probably the best of those three items. Their nachos are also just ok. Tips: (1) look on the walls on the inside of the restaurant, they have additional items not on the menu posted. For example, we deinfitely recommend getting the Taquitos a la Oaxaquena instead of the regular taquitos. (2) they people who work here are very nice regardless, but if you can order in Spanish, then it is to your advantage. (3) Sometimes they have made to order tortillas cooked right in front of you on the patio. Check the sinage or with the staff to find out when they are currently doing that.
